tell me more

don’t judge me – big decision – not my vibe

i toss and turn, i can’t sleep.

i have a big friday ahead.

i look at my watch, 3:00am

i just can’t sleep.

i throw the covers back, and walk to the kitchen, the cool tiles underfoot ground me.

i realise that i have done something you probably never thought you’d hear me say.

i put the recycling out last night.

it won’t be a habit, i just felt like it last night.

don’t judge me, i like to live life on the edge.

kettle on.

coffee into the shiny stainless steel cafetière.

*top cafetière tip, i discovered if you put it in the dishwasher it comes out like new.

you’re welcome.

hands up up if you like bullet coffee?

there are lots of variants, but my brew is made up of one teaspoon of coconut oil, good strong joe, and double cream.

mmmmmmmmmm.

i head for the white spiral staircase which threatens my balance every step i climb, bullet coffee in hand.

as i approach my office, with the door ajar, i realise that yesterdays late summer warmth has resulted in all four windows being left open, and the early, i mean really early, morning chill is creeping through the fenestration.

i spy my desk, hard dark wood, with black antique metal supports, i’m not a massive fan of ’stuff’ but i have a couple of pieces of furniture which make me smile.

my desk is one of them, you’d love it.

i place my bullet next to my ottoman chair, lower myself, and open my mac.

i recently reunited with a friend, who i recalled was the person responsible for turning me onto mac products, and when he showed me the first ipod, a quarter of a century ago, i fell in love.

andy fernandez, is one cool cat, always has been, and always will be, and i am excited to be reigniting our working relationship, and have some fun bigmoose stuff we’re working on.

though at a recent bigmoose business club networking event, andy was having a conversation with bigmoose ambassador and climbing buddy philip, and they discovered that the building i used to rent from philip’s company sa brain, was where i sublet it to andy, oops my bad.

i always say, ask for forgiveness not permission.

luckily mr lay forgave me.

i think.

man, i’m waffling today.

so, why is my friday gonna be big?

firstly, chloe and i have a big decision to make today, and when we’ve made it i’ll share it with you, but it’s waking up at 3am scary.

the other scary thing today is i have joined a business leadership programme, which is part of my personal development, and i have an interview with a lady, who my research tells me is a very tough interviewer, and its her decision whether i am accepted into the programme or not, wish me luck.

so, this is the end of a week that has been very rewarding, and i feel personally that i am growing in a way that is enabling me to steer bigmoose, and scale in a great way.

we have received some funding this week from a very wealthy family, who are extremely well connected, and our strategy of engaging with high-net-worth individuals, and family offices seems to be working, although this relationship is down to chance, rather than targeted success, but you need a little luck now and then don’t you?

two other cool things to have happened this week.

one, we are going to create a ‘council of elders’ which in our example will be a group of wise, well connected, successful, experienced, passionate, people, who can help bigmoose grow, and i am looking forward to recruiting this group, and thrilled to see what they bring to our party, and we have the first two people we asked agree, which is awesome.

the second ripper of a result is our third artist to confirm they will be one of our art 4 good artists, and her name is charmaine chanakira.

i love her work, and her story, and her sense of humour.

here’s how we got her involved.

i cold dm’d her on instagram.

she replied.

we arranged to chat wednesday midday.

12:00 she calls me.

i do twenty minutes of selling us, selling the project, and get to a point where i feel i have to ask if she wants to be involved.

i ask.

she replies.

“nah, not my vibe”

then with beautiful comedy timing, cracks up laughing.

“i hate you” i tell her, and we both giggle like children.

we conclude the call, and i punch the air and scream “yes”.

this is a huge result, her larger pieces of work sell for £11,000 and i feel having her on the team will help us attract other artists, and will help us build momentum.

i stretch, like a cat, 3am starts ain’t great, but i quite like the solitude, the silence, and the quiet before the world wakes up.

i hope your week has been great, and to the gentleman who, outside cardiff city hall, exclaimed ‘bigmoose’ when he saw me, thank you for your generosity and love, and to carly, my everest friend who has a mountain to climb in october, but recently badly injured her foot, good luck healing, stay strong.

final thing for today, last week we went to lewis roblings why we run event, where the runners raised £31k for bigmoose, and what a fantastic event it was, beautiful event, beautiful people, and if you fancy running a 250k multiday event,

till next week.

blue skies,

jeff

p.s. here’s a cheeky why we run sunset.

want to give back to bigmoose?
