my hero story in life this week was chloe and crawford’s wedding.
the day, as a dad that i got to experience walking my little girl down the aisle.
my personal wedding experience was absolutely flawless, as it was the most relaxed major life event you could imagine.
testament to the two main protagonist’s planning.
zero fuss, zero drama.
and last week’s blog made reference to chloe resembling a fairy tale princess.
i present my evidence.
i may be a smidge biased, but only a smidge.
could she look any happier?
the wedding weekend started friday, with just chloe, tiffany, tania and myself having a family meal at home, reflecting on the journey to this point, and was filled with laughter and storytelling.
the morning of the wedding was very relaxed, and the girls prepped hair and makeup, as did i.
then came the moment when i saw chloe in her dress for the first time.
my heart melted, i have never seen such a happy, beautiful bride.
ryan, betty and otto arrived, and seeing betty in her bridesmaids kit, and two year old otto in his suit and bowtie was one of many personal highlights.
we left.
on time.
arrived.
on time.
and the emotion and expectation of walking down the aisle to marry the man of her dreams, just before we entered the room where the ceremony would take place, saw chloe almost get teary.
i kept a stoic facade, and mouthed encouragement.
we linked arms and entered the room, full of love and friends.
as the throng saw the bride, there was an almost in unison inhalation of oxygen, followed by smiles.
we walked, in rhythm to the soundtrack, with no stumbles, which was a massive win.
the ceremony was beautiful, and the vows tear inducing, and when your future husband has donated a kidney to help save your life, it was no surprise.
the guests took pictures of the couple as they signed the register, radiating a happy glow, smiling, nay grinning, they were so happy.
we filed out, to where the weather gods and goddesses contributed to the success of the day, the sun shone brightly.
blue skies.
guests assembled, under guided instruction, and photographic evidence was created, the happy energy glowed at every request for cheese.
we left the shoot to get to the next destination, the restaurant where we would all break bread and celebrate the couple, and when they arrived , outfit number 2 made its debut.
beautiful right?
we clapped the couple in, and feasted on spanish small plates, every course mouthwateringly delicious.
betty and otto were incredibly well behaved, and betty astounded two guests when asked what kind of music she liked, her response was wagners tannhäuser overture.
nothing unusual there.
dining, and cake cutting complete, the 28 of us moved to the outside seating area, and the balminess of the evening kept the guests comfortable and the conversations flowing, until later in the night, the wedding naturally slowed. to end, a truly magical day.
zero fuss, zero drama
thank you mr & mrs powis
see you all next week,
blue skies
