trigger warning – 6069 – oasis tickets

good morning bigmoose friend,

trigger warning, in this blog i discuss suicide.

last year there were 6069 deaths by suicide in england and wales.

6069.

how does that make you feel?

6069.

it makes me think about the impact it has on the world.

the world those 6069 people lived in.

their families, their friends, their coworkers, their communities they lived in.

we at bigmoose are determined to do our best to reduce these numbers, and we have current data that shows that for every 29 referrals we enter into our system, we are receiving one testimonial that we are saving one person from suicide.

so the more referrals we get, computes into the more lives we save.

so what do we need to do to save more lives?

two things.

one, is more referrals.

and two, the nitty gritty bit, we need more money to pay our awesome therapists.

last month alone we had 200 referrals, and as it costs on average of £400 to get a referral through to graduation, the simple maths is it will cost £80,000.

multiply that by 12 with no growth, and just our therapist bill is nearly a million pounds per annum.

factor in other running costs, staff, event costs, etc, and probable growth, and the numbers are big.

so, how are we going to stay strong enough to grow at the rate we are currently?

we have some big strategies for 2025, and one them is amplifying our existing events.

and our first event of the year will be our bigmoose ultra fun run, which if you’re a regular blog reader you’ll know is a 5k loop of bute park in cardiff, which you can walk or run a 5k, or multiple of, i.e. 10k, half marathon, full marathon, and 50k ultra marathon.

last year we initiated the event, and for our first running event ever had just over 1,000 runners don their spotty tees, making the visual effect amazing, and they fundraised just over £50,000, a brilliant first run event for us.

so i’m not sure if you’re aware, but i’m a little bit competitive.

so here’s our plan.

our second ultra fun run will be on april 13th 2025, and this year we are going to have 6069 runners, all wearing spotty tees, and representing each person we lost to suicide.

no more than 6069, no less than 6069.

this fantastic idea was team member josies in a recent team meeting, and we have fallen in love with it, we hope you do too.

but to achieve this epic challenge we need an army.

an orange and white army, and we need you.

and as this blog community is worldwide, you can join us virtually, from anywhere in the world.

so here is the link to help us.

bigmoose ultra fun run 2025

the cost is only £15, which gets you entry, a spotty tee, our new 2025 ‘brav’ spotty 6069 socks, and a stunning bigmoose medal, amazing value, plus this year we have a pay it forward option, where if you can afford to support another runner you can ‘pay it forward’ which having launched monday is proving to be very popular.

do you think we can achieve this dream?

with your help we know we can, so let’s continue to help others that need help, take action for good, sign up now, and every signup gives everyone in our office a dopamine hit as it lands in our inbox.

represent one of the 6069 lives lost to suicide in 2023

so that’s my sales pitch pitched, sorry to be salesey on a friday morning, but we’ve got to achieve these targets to reduce those suicide numbers down, it’s so important.

onto lighter matters, chloe is currently on well deserved annual leave, and next week on the 15th she turns 30, so if you know her please message her happy birthday, and if you don’t know her, do the same :p

she has grown into a very amazing young woman, who leads from the front, and makes me a very proud dad every day, so if you are reading this have a lovely day baby, and don’t stop in your quest to leave the world better than we found it, and thanks for being my partner on this adventure.

oh yeah her’s that link again, in case you haven’t signed up yet.

i'd love to join the movement for change

join the bigmoose army.

until next week, thanks for reading.

i’ll be seeing ya.

blue skies,

jeff

p.s. i’ve just had this idea, that if we can get a couple of oasis tickets we could raffle them to raise some money, so if anybody has access to tickets please get in touch, thanks.a
