blackmail – crime – rubbing billionaires

this is wellsie,

famed for abseiling from a transporter bridge, and deep diving without additional oxygen to swim through the fuselage of a sunken plane, all to raise great amounts of money for bigmoose.

wellsie is also my partner in literal crime, where if you are a regular blog reader you may remember a sambuca fuelled game of ‘high/low’ resulting in a whole hotel being evacuated onto central london streets.

many years ago i might add.

this week dear blog reader i went to london for a couple of nights.

the timing of which in no way was connected to tania’s sister and two friends coming to stay at our house for two nights to go to see tom jones performing at cardiff castle, this was pure coincidence.

wellsie is a masseuse, and rubs london’s rich and famous, drives a lotus or his motorbike to appointments, depending on whether he needs to take his massage table.

wednesday morning he came to visit me at my hotel at 6.30am for a meeting to discuss spin bikes at project 1 million 2.0.

wellsie has committed to rounding up five groups of friends to take bikes, and currently has two bikes under his umbrella, and wednesday’s chinwag was to discuss our strategy to convince, cajole, or blackmail if needed, three more co-riders.

i jest.

blackmail was not discussed.

wellsie has the most caustic wit, and constantly mocks me, which i in turn return respond with equally banal responses, our whatsapp thread would make you laugh, or gasp, or both.

wellsie is good for me.

as he rode off into the rising sun, i went back in to prepare for my second meeting of the day with another of my mates, and bigmoose supporter, stephen waddington, aka wadds.

wadds is another great fundraiser for us, and has facilitated two talks for me in london which he has paid bigmoose a kings ransom for me to do, and given me feedback which almost made me cry.

it was great to catch up face to face, and we chatted about the first time we met on zoom, where he committed to raising £10k on that first meeting, and then proceeded to raise £16k, extremely impressive, and such a lovely man, who i’m now proud to call a friend.

i returned to my room and hunkered down for a laser focussed push on bikes and talks, and by end of play we had signed up three bikes, and four talks, one of which is very cool and is for the foreign office, so thanks alex for making that one happen, we’re now well over 40 bikes, and 21 talks.

a good day.

but it wasn’t finished.

i had dinner booked with the lovely sophie eastwood, who has a p.r. agency called ‘holistic’, and sophie has introduced me to wadds, got me talks in london, and fundraised for us, growing into a super supporter, and her passion and enthusiasm is infectious, and any meeting with her is energising, and our dinner at the ivy was suitably amped, as we both revved our engines, a wonderful way to end the day, and sophie has offered her professional services to project 1 million 2.0, so watch this space.

so all in all a fab day, and we are on target today to have signed up ten bikes this week, our best week yet, which is extremely exciting, and the nerves are starting to jangle a little, this is such a big project, with a crazy amount of organisation behind the scenes, but hopefully we can pull it off, wish us luck.

so as the sun rises on this beautiful cardiff morning, i head to put out the recycling, and notice a substantial amount of glass in this weeks collection, who’d have seen that happening?

until next week, have a great one, and enjoy the bank holiday uk readers.

blue skies,

jeff
