transplant day – the power of sharing – the most referrals ever

monday is transplant day.

we are currently all isolating to prevent the chance of getting ill before the operation, and it feels very 2020.

chloe is handling things with strength, panache, and crochet. (her new hobby)

i am learning new skills too.

how to cope without my partner in bigmoose.

what i am hoping is that this new, temporary dynamic, will push our team, including myself, to stretch ourselves, and grow and learn, without chloe.

a big ask, she is a great leader.

but we all need to help carry the extra workload, a challenge i am interested to watch unfold, and with project 1 million creeping up on us, the gas feels like it has been turned up, but i am sure our team will step up to make her proud.

we have systems in place, and it’s a great test of the charity’s resilience, and maturity.

it seems wild that this time next week she will have a replacement kidney, and her partner, the amazing crawford, thanks crawfie for your service, will have one less kidney, wild i tell you.

whilst we are working from home the team have been working hard to service our biggest number of referrals in a month ever, topping out at 300 for september.

they have also saved another life from suicide, and last night represented us at the development bank wales charity fancy dress ball, as the spice girls and amy winehouse.

work hard, play hard, right?

dev bank have chosen us as their charity of the year, and they are extremely proactive, so thank you to them for the support.

some other milestones this week, on a personal note i have not eaten chocolate or drunk booze for 33 days on my ‘run a 50k ultramarathon’ challenge and ran my fastest mile, 5k, and 10k’s ever, so the consistency seems to be working.

project 1 million 2.0 signed up our 62nd bike, when chloe wrote a linkedin post, which a friend of ours shared, and a lovely young lady called emma saw it in dumfries in scotland, and is bringing her team with her and her husband scott, wild i tell you!

we still need 38 bikes, and today i will be messaging blog readers dan, richard and matthew, expect a call lads.

to wrap up today i wanted to mention the author of storyworthy, a book i have learnt a lot from, matthew dicks, stop giggling at the back there, who has launched his google portrait, which is very interesting interactive ai version of himself, which i find fascinating, have a look.

see matthew's google portrait here

thanks for reading, see you next week, post op.

blue skies,

jeff

p.s. ‘eat sleep rave repeat’ is an unrealistic mantra if you have a family to consider.

(and it becomes impossible once you add the pressure of a full time job, and the stress of running a home)
