bigmoose is changing – suicidal thoughts – shadowman

"hidden" artwork by caitlin flood-molyneux, 2023

trigger warning

todays blog has references to suicide.

this week i have had four conversations with people about them or loved ones being suicidal.

i will spare you the details, but i feel that they are all still here because of interventions.

and i know some of our fantastic bigmoose therapists read this blog, so on behalf of every person you help, thank you.

your work is magnificent.

and long may it continue.

this week we had our 154th life saved, and our social value measured at nearly £28 million, which is remarkable for such a small charity.

but we have bigger aspirations, and a desire to help more people, and save more people, why wouldn’t we?

we’ve created a very simple model, that works.

referrals ask for help.

we link them into a therapist.

the therapist helps them.

we pay the therapist.

and we haven’t changed the model, and don’t intend to any time soon.

but, and you’re the first to have this information, we’re gonna be making some radical changes.

on june 12th we are going to be rebranding.

same model, but more direct in our style.

less safe with our marketing.

more raw.

more real.

more relevant.

and as i sit at my desk in my home office, i feel a stirring.

of passion.

of excitement.

at the thought of what’s to come.

growth, expansion, and helping more people.

but we need more help.

we need your help.

we need more connections.

so here is my list of what we need, and if you can help in any way with any of the things on my list, please drop me a line.

1. people to sign up to monthly giving, a few quid a month adds up big time.

2. people to sign up to leave us a legacy in their will.

3. connections to businesses that you know the decision makers in.

4. links to anybody in the art world that can help with art4good.

5. any links to welsh government.

cheeky to ask i know, but if you don’t ask you don’t ever get.

so, the rebrand is on it’s way, i hope you like it, and i will share it with you next week.

this week has been a fun week too, as i got to go to the welsh parliament building, the senedd, to the brilliant tedx bute street event put on by chris and jak birch, and stood on the famous tedx red dot with chloe, as we talked for 15 minutes about bigmoose and its impact, a very special dad/daughter moment indeed.

speaking at the event was the wonderful artist caitlin flood-molyneux, who is coming to visit us very soon, and hopefully will get involved in art4good, fingers crossed.

finally today, a big shout out to our newest ambassador, mr philip lay.

philip has been a huge supporter of bigmoose since it’s inception, and his passion for helping others is admirable, and we are very proud to have him on our team, and what a great picture of him at project £1 million 2.0, and he enjoyed it so much he has signed up again for this years event 3.0.

thanks for your support philip.

tania is away working in london for a few weeks, so i am flying solo, so any book recommendations or documentaries to watch, please send ‘em through.

my fave watch this week has been ’shadowman’ a story about the artist richard hambleton, here’s a link to the trailer.

watch the trailer below

have a great week, and get ready for the rebrand, it’s time for change.
