weird blog – haters gonna hate – thank you

good morning dear blog reader,

thank you for opening today’s, and every other blog you’ve ever read.

it’s been a journey right?

from my first blog, which this friday morning i have no idea how to find, but its been double digit years for sure.

together we’ve climbed mountains both metaphorical and snow capped, from kilimanjaro to two blasts at everest, we’ve opened a coffee shop, we’ve closed a coffee shop, we’ve had some health issues, we’ve built a multi award winning charity, held some pretty epic events, helped thousands of people improve their lives, and literally stopped 156 people from ending their lives.

i have told you about playing ‘high low’ resulting in a london hotel being evacuated in the middle of the night, not my proudest moment, but anecdotally funny.

i have shared my hopes and fears, many dreams and schemes, some wins, some losses, but always with a rawness, which seems to be the only way.

and through this journey, you show up, week after week, and i see you.

and i want to thank you.

because i write my weekly jibber jabber, and you read it, and together we make impact.

and you never know when that impact will help bigmoose.

i will give you two examples.

last week i wrote my blog, and asked for help, and that vulnerability and request has resulted in being linked in to welsh government, and one monthly donor who was our highest monthly donor to start with, doubling their monthly amount, a hugely generous gesture, so thank you for that.

the second example is a relationship that spawned from saying yes to doing a talk, meeting this person as a fellow speaker, and them becoming a reader of the blog, and now one of our biggest supporters.

through this relationship, and being introduced to their network, this week we have received a £90,000 grant for bigmoose.

£90k.

amazing.

this will pay for 180 people to have a full course of therapy, and on our current data will save three people from suicide.

truly amazing.

so thank you to all the people involved in these kind acts, from me, our team, and every person your kindness impacts, you are saving lives.

which leads me on to our launch of our rebrand, which has been met with resounding support, apart from one vociferous party who very much didn’t like it, but like i always say, you could be the sweetest, ripest, most succulent peach in the world, but somebody in the world just doesn’t like peaches.

we all feel this rebrand has been an injection of adrenaline, and we are growing in confidence as a charity, and starting to look at using our data to create research documents into causes of poor mental health, trends, and the impact of fast intervention versus longterm waiting lists, and i feel confident that our findings will make powerful reading, and hopefully the power guardians will sit up and listen to what we have learnt and discovered through this data.

this is a weird blog, no **it sherlock, very much a reflection of my journey with you, many of whom i have never met, but your support in whatever guise it takes, is never taken for granted, and as i said earlier, thank you, your click and read help us on this journey we are on together.

to wrap up today, have a butchers at this ted talk by dan pallotta, which gives a very interesting view of charities.

dan pallotta's ted talk

until next week, have a week full of joy, and make an impact while you’re here.

blue skies,

jeff

p.s. we also got shortlisted for the great british entrepreneur awards, how exciting.

want to give back?
