how it works

choose your distance, run at your own pace, help us raise vital funds for life-changing therapy. you can run by yourself or run with a team. what matters most isn't just the miles, it's the impact those miles can make.

choose what you'd like your run to fund

every run has a reason. choose yours. whether it’s funding a first phone call or a full round of therapy, your effort can become someone else’s turning point.

secure your place

grab your ticket and become part of our community to run for mental health.

run your distance and help someone get the support they need.

run your distance wherever you are. while you’re putting one foot in front of the other, someone else is taking their first step towards therapy because of you.

what's our why?

the ultra fun run has always been about community.

showing up.
standing together.
helping people who are struggling.

as it’s grown, one thing has become clear: this is about more than running. it’s about impact.

it’s a chance to turn movement into meaning.
to turn miles into mental health support.

to shift the question from:

how many runners do we have?

to:

how much support can we unlock together?

because every runner helps fund therapy.
and every step brings someone closer to the support they need.

in a time where i felt i had nothing and no one, my therapist felt like my safe space.” – bigmoose graduate

i want to be part of this

run with us from anywhere

if you can’t make it to bute park on the day, you can still be part of the ultra fun run as a virtual runner.

wherever you are in the world, whether that’s your local park, your street, the treadmill at the gym or somewhere completely new, you can pull on a spotty tee and run for mental health. every step helps raise awareness and spark conversations where you are.

because the ultra fun run isn’t about how many people run.
it’s about how many people get support because they did.

so wherever you are, join us.
run anywhere.
spread the message.
fund therapy.
help change a life.

beyond just a race

picture a sea of spotty tees moving through beautiful bute park, with each person taking on their own challenge while helping spark important conversations about mental health. expect the legendary bigmoose atmosphere, with messages of encouragement and supporters cheering you on every step of the way.

at the finish line, our event village is packed with local food and drink traders, so you can refuel with a well-deserved post-run feast.

everyone is welcome. the ultra fun run is proudly accredited by ‘she races’, an organisation dedicated to making races more inclusive for women by working to remove the barriers that can stop them from competing. it reflects our commitment to creating an event where women feel properly considered and supported, from providing period products in the toilets to taking a zero-tolerance approach to harassment, listening to participant feedback, and offering pregnant runners the option to defer their place.

your impact

what would you like your run to fund?

let’s talk about what your fundraising does.

  • £50 – a first conversation
funds a phone call with a therapist. often the hardest step.
  • £100 – one safe hour
a full therapy session. space to breathe and be heard.
  • £200 – momentum
two sessions. continued support when it matters.
  • £500 – a full round of therapy
real, ongoing help. where lives can genuinely change.

your entry secures your place.

your fundraising funds therapy.

“you turned up. you did it. you’re awesome. if it wasn’t for people like you, i wouldn’t be here…so thank you” – bigmoose graduate

this is bigger than a run

this isn’t about medals.

it’s about moments.

it’s about the person who finally says
“i’m not ok.”

it’s about the session that stops someone spiralling.

it’s about showing up for people we may never meet.

when you run, someone else gets support.

that’s the real finish line.

frequently asked questions

you can find out all of the information you need about the event here, but if there's anything else you'd like to ask, please drop us an email to ultrafunrun@bigmoose.co

please note under-18s must be accompanied by an adult, and tickets are non-refundable.
where is the event?

the event will take place in bute park, cardiff, cf10 3er, with loops starting and finishing in coopers field.

what time does it start?

the event will run from 7:30am-4.30pm, with staggered start times for each distance.

why should i fundraise?

your fundraising will directly help us to provide vital mental health support for more people. raising just £100 would provide a therapy session for someone struggling with their mental health.

what is the minimum age?

yes, children can take part. we’re welcoming little ones as young as 2 to join in, but anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

is the run accessible for people with disabilities?

yes, the ultra fun run is designed to be as accessible and inclusive as possible, and we warmly welcome participants with disabilities.

we’ve had people take part using wheelchairs, mobility aids, guides and with a wide range of access needs. if there’s anything you’d like to chat through before signing up, please email us at ultrafunrun@bigmoose.co and we’ll be happy to help.

are dogs allowed?

dogs are welcome on-site at the event, but they won’t be able to take part in the run itself.

what will i receive before the event?

before the event, we’ll send you an event pack with your bib, along with your spotty tee ready for the day.

can i change my distance nearer the time?

we’d recommend sticking to your chosen distance if you can, but we understand that plans can change. if needed, you can move up or down a distance closer to the event. where possible, please give us at least one week’s notice so we can arrange your start time.

can i get a refund on my ticket?

tickets for this event are non-refundable.

how do i set up a fundraising page?

your fundraising page will be set up automatically when you register through enthuse, so there’s nothing you need to do.

if my child is running with me, do they need their own entry?

yes, if your child is taking part with you, they’ll need their own entry. please complete one registration with your details and a second with theirs. we also have children’s spotty tees available, so please let us know that they’ll need a children’s top and include their size too.

how much does it cost to register?

the entry fee is £25.

do i have to wear a bigmoose top?

yes, we’re asking everyone to wear one of our bigmoose spotty tees on the day. it helps create that amazing feeling of community, brings everyone together, and shows visible support for the charity and the reason we’re all there. the cost of the top and postage is included in your entry fee, so everything you need is covered. if you already have an affiliated top, such as a running club collaboration top, we’d still ask you to wear one of our original bigmoose spotty tees for the event so we can all be part of it together.

where can i park?

there isn’t any parking on-site, but there are several car parks nearby in the city centre. we’d recommend sophia gardens pay and display or north road pay and display. where possible, we’d also encourage people to walk, cycle or use public transport.

can i change my fundraising goal?

absolutely. just choose the fundraising target you’d like to aim for when you register, and if you decide you’d like to change the amount later, you can simply edit your target directly on your fundraising page.

do i have to fundraise to take part?

yes, we do ask everyone taking part to raise a minimum of £50. every pound helps us get closer to our goal and means more people can access the support they need. if you’d like a hand with your fundraising, our team are always here with ideas and support.
