by taking part, you’re not just completing a run - you’re becoming a lifeline for someone in need. you are making a stand for mental health.
picture an army of spotty tees running around the stunning bute park, with everyone uniting through their own personal achievements and starting conversations on mental health. of course, a legendary bigmoose atmosphere is guaranteed. at the finish line, we will have an amazing event village with local traders and stalls, including plenty of food and drink!
everyone is welcome, and we are proud to share that the ultra fun run has been accredited by she races for actively committing to gender equality, following their guidelines in our event planning. this includes:
at last year’s event, we had 1,000 incredible people join us. We had people make friends on the day and support each other around the course. Together we raised £50,000 for mental health, to provide immediate intervention for people struggling.
as a charity we fully-fund therapy for individuals who are struggling, removing cost barriers for people who may not be able to afford it. however this means we do rely on fundraising from kind individuals like you to make sure we are there to help everyone.
fundraising is optional for this event, but every penny raised goes towards vital mental health support. raising £100 will fully fund a therapy session for someone struggling.
you can see some stories from people who have been through our therapy here, by taking part, and if you decide to fundraise, you will be directly helping someone like them to access life-changing support.

when you sign up for this event, we also have a ‘pay it forward’ option. here you can donate to cover the cost of a ticket for someone who may not be able to afford it. all you have to do is add however much you can afford in divisions of £5 to go into a pay it forward pot. we will then invite people to take part in the event for free.
if you are someone who could benefit from our pay it forward scheme, please email us at ultrafunrun@bigmoose.co.
if you would like some coaching to help train for this event, we have a network of incredible coaches through the why we run event. why we run is a 250km multi-stage ultramarathon event affiliated to bigmoose, together they have raised over £100,000 for us.
if you are interested in finding out more, simply fill out the form here and one of the coaches will be in touch.
the event will take place in bute park, cardiff, cf10 3er, with loops starting and finishing in coopers field.
runs will have a staggered start from 7:30am depending on distances (longer distances will start earlier), we will send you out all of the information on timings in the coming months.
your fundraising will directly help us to provide vital mental health support for more people. even raising just £100 would provide a therapy session for someone struggling with their mental health.
we are accepting children as young as 2 to take part in this event – anyone under 18 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
yes, we want the event to be open to everyone so we will be ensuring it is accessible.
dogs are allowed on-site at the event but not in the race.
we will send out an event pack with your bib ahead of the race and your spotty tee.
we’d recommend trying to stick to your designated distance, but understand on the day things may happen so we can change up or down if needed. if possible, please give us at least one weeks notice before the event to arrange your start time.
tickets for this event are non-refundable.
head to the justgiving link here, and follow the steps from justgiving to create your page. drop us an email if you need any help at all.
yes, if you are running with your child please buy them their own ticket for the event – please fill out one entry with your own details and a second one with their respective details. we also have children’s spotty tees so please specify that they will require a children’s top along with their size.
entry is £15 which includes a bigmoose spotty tee.
we are asking everyone to wear one of our spotty tees for the event, and we are covering the price and postage of this within your race entry. if you have an affiliated top eg. a collaboration top from a running club, you will still need to wear one of our original bigmoose spotty tees.
there is no parking on-site but there are a number of car parks nearby to the park in the city centre, we would recommend the sophia gardens pay and display or north road pay and display car parks
absolutely! simply select a target that you would like to aim for upon registration, and then if you find you would like to change this, this is fine. for example, you may raise £100 and then want to push your fundraising further and aim for £250 – this is absolutely awesome, just let us know!
